Below is a list of commonly asked questions and answers:
1. Q: What is group buying?
A: Group buying allows consumers to group together in order to obtain great discounts on products and services offered by merchants.
2. Q: How does group buying work?
A: Businesses partner with group buying websites to offer incredible discounts (usually 50% off or more) on their product or service. For example, a restaurant might offer $20 worth of food and drinks for only $10. The group buying site promotes the deal to obtain sales in the form of printable vouchers (coupons). After purchasing the voucher, the buyer takes it to the merchant to redeem it for its value. Because these deals offer such great savings for consumers and they’re only offered for a brief period of time (a few days), they sell out very quickly. It’s not unusual for large group buying sites to sell thousands of deal coupons in a single day.
3. Q: Is there a limit of vouchers that I can purchase?
A: Yes. Each deal will state the limit. You should carefully read all the particular details for each deal.
1. Q: You indicate that a percentage of every purchase goes back to my daughter’s minor hockey assocation or Team. How do you know which association and Team they play for?
A: Good question. When you decide to buy a deal, you must register by entering some basic information which creates an account for you. You will be asked to select which Girls Hockey Association you are affiliated with (ie. which association does your child play in?). And if your team is participating in the Fundraising program, you can select your Team. That information is saved in your profile. Then, everytime you purchase a deal that information shows up on a report so that we know how many deals were purchased by folks within each association and/or Team. We then send monies back based on how many of their parents and others purchase along with a copy of the report.
2. Q: Is my daughter’s minor hockey association part of this fundraising program?
A: The short answer is yes. We have included every local association.
3. Q: Where will the funds be used? Will they flow directly back to my daughter’s team?
A: That is up to each association or Team. We do not have any say in how those funds are used. Our job is to send the money back and each association or Team will determine their use.
To fundraise at the team level, please see #7 below.
4. Q: How do I monitor the activity related to our Team link? Is there any sort of account access that allows me to see if people are actually using our link and participating to determine the fundraising amounts?
A: At this point we do not have real time monitoring of much your particular team is fundaising. We may add that functionality in the near future.
5. Q: What percentage goes towards fundraising?
A: Each deal will state the percentage of the voucher coupon price that goes back to minor hockey as the fundraising amount.
6. Q: Can we forward the deal onto our families and friends?
A: Yes. We encourage you to do so. It will contribute to the overall fundraising. If you really want to focus on this and potentially raise funds for your daughter’s team by getting family and friends onboard, please see # 7 below. If you sign up for the Team fundraising, we can actually supply a specific link that you can forward on where your association and your team name is already pre-determined.
7. Q: Can we use this as a fundraising program for our team?
A: YES!! We have created a very simple fundraising program called Team FundDeal, where your players and parents can approach friends, family and neighbours and make them aware of the site. That is all you need to do. YOU DO NOT SELL ANYTHING!! You do not have to pre-order or pre-buy anything. You do not sell magazines, chocolates, gift cards, calendars - nothing. All you have to do is to make friends, family and neighbours aware of the site and if they buy one of the amazing deals, your team gets credited for that. You can easily go door to door with this or use the latest social media tools (ie. Facebook) to get the word out. The BEST part of our program is that the effort required only occurs once, but the fundraising can happen all year!! Once you inform the potential buyers, they will buy throughout the year which establishes a recurring fundraising revenue stream.
But you need to sign up asap in order to get all the information required for Team FundDeal. The most critical element is that we list your team on the website so that all purchases made as a direct result of your effort are properly tracked.
Types of Businesses
1. Q: Will the deals be for new or used equipment only?
A: No. We are going to have all types of businesses featured, not just hockey equipment retailers. We will feature equipment repair, equipment cleaning, skate sharpening, food/nutrition retailers, hockey related gifts, clothing/apparel, hockey camps, entertainment/team building activities and venues, family & team friendly restaurants and travel related businesses for out town tournaments. The list goes on and on so our challenge will be picking and featuring the top 30 options to appeal to you.
2. Q: Will all deals be 100% hockey related?
A: No. We are going to sprinkle in a few that might appeal to the parents – how about a great deal on a great restaurant for that mid-season date night for parents? Stay tuned.
1. Q: How do I buy this voucher as a gift for someone?
A: There are 2 options. The first option is to purchase the voucher as you normally would, it will appear in your account. You can print it off and give it to whoever you choose as a gift (ie. insert in a Birthday card). The voucher will say your name on it as the Receipent but don’t worry about that. As long as the receiver takes the physical voucher into the store, the voucher # is the unique identifier. The second option is where you would like to send the gift ELECTRONICALLY to someone. If that is the case, you check off ‘gift’ at the purchase screen, then you can enter in a message and you must enter their email address. They will receive an email letting them know that you have purchased a gift for them. They will be prompted to create an account and the voucher will appear in THEIR account. NOTE: As the purchaser, you will NOT receive a copy of the voucher so do not use this method if you want to physically give the voucher to the person.
